I Watched Vice Recently (Possible Politics Ahead, Beware)

I try not to post anything politics-wise here on Oppo, but I do like to talk about great movies that I’ve seen. Vice is one of them, in fact, it could be my favorite movie of the year.

As someone who grew up smack dab in the middle of the Dubya administration, you don’t get much of a realization of what’s going on until you grow up and look back. Seeing as I’ve dabbled in political history in college and have a passing interest in political climates, seeing this movie and the story it tells now just makes it all the more richer.

The movie itself is beautifully made, Adam McKay brought his A game, and Christian Bale knocks it out of the park (once again) as well as the rest of the supporting cast, made up of personal favorites such as Amy Adams, Sam Rockwell, and Steve Carrell.

Beware though, this movie is definitely a made from a liberal perspective. As a left-leaning centrist, I personally have no issue with it, but those who lean more to the right may find themselves angered by the film. You have every right to be. But as for me, it was as perfect as it could be.

I’m gonna make a political show where everyone gets along and the arguments are cordial. Each episode’s runtime will be approximately 5-17 seconds.

Sounds perfect for Adult Swim.

A better idea is to have politicians swap places with the “actors” in a totally staged & scripted tow truck “reality” show .

Kinja'd!!!

I’d wager that Bernice could get some legislation passed.

I saw it this weekend as well. I too thought it was a well made movie. I haven’t done any fact checking to see how accurate it really was. If what the movie portrayed is accurate, he had some serious unchecked power and really worked for his agenda.

But, really, what politician doesn’t work for an agenda?

Side note, I have to give kudos to the makeup department.  They managed to make Amy Adams look unattractive.  That’s hard to do.

I didn’t see the movie, yet. Do they show him shooting a man while out on a quail hunt?

Political point: That dude is a war criminal and deserves the picture painted of him; he’s still alive.

Cheney was quite powerful. He was called the “Shadow President” during the Bush Administration for a reason.

Looking forward to seeing the movie.
